About Lansing, Michigan
Surrounded by beautiful rivers and lakes, captivating scenery, notable education systems and the heart of government, Lansing, Michigan is a central hub of diversity with extensive offerings for the resident and the visitor.
The largest river in Michigan, The Grand River, runs through downtown Lansing. The Red Cedar River, a tributary of the Grand River, flows through the campus at Michigan State University. There are also two lakes in the area, Park Lake and Lake Lansing. Lake Lansing is a summer favorite for outdoor activities including swimming, boating, and fishing. The Michigan State University Sailing Club, and the Lansing Sailing Club, are located on Lake Lansing and make a beautiful sight during summer sailing regattas.
Lansing is a unique center of government and education. There are three medical schools, two law schools, a Big Ten Conference University, Michigan State, the State Capital with all three branches of government, a State Appellate Court, a Federal Court, and the Michigan State Library and Historical Center.
Lansing is a trade and processing center for its surrounding agricultural area, including: paper, metal, and plastic products, machinery, medical equipment, and manufactured building materials.

Emil's Restaurant is an "Italian-American" restaurant with fine offerings. The Sultans Express restaurant serves authentic Middle Eastern cuisine made from the healthy ingredients. All Seasons Bistro fine dining restaurant serves superb French country cuisine in a casual, relaxed atmosphere.
Shopping Greater Lansing offers endless places to leisurely shop. The Eastwood Towne Center is a modern outdoor shopping plaza complete with stores to cater to a diversity of interests. This includes a modern movie theatre and restaurants featuring diverse cuisine. Two other enclosed malls on the west and east sides of the region surround the area.
Old Town offers a unique array of treasures from the past with its fine collection of antiques. For a change of pace, The Lansing City Market’s fresh flowers is the perfect place to enjoy plant life floral beauty.
Major Attractions Michigan Historical Museum is a favored spot for visitors. Choices abound with innovative art galleries, local theatre groups and first-rate music acts.
At the top of a visitors list of to do’s list is the magnificent Capitol building. A tour of the building displays excellent restoration to its Victorian grandeur. A walk down Capitol Avenue to Museum Drive is the Impression Five Science Center with interactive exhibits.
The Sleepy Hollow State Park has a river running through it and a large lake in the middle of the over 2,600-acre park. It is ideal for camping and activities like kayaking, canoeing, fishing and viewing the plentiful wildlife.
The Michigan Historical Museum, which boasts a great collection of items from Michigan's past, includes a recreated copper mine that will please history buffs. Children and families will enjoy taking a camel ride at the Potter Park Zoo or spending the day biking through the Sleepy Hollow State Park.
The Louis F. Adado Riverfront Park and Trail System was designed as a downtown festival park. The beautiful scenic walkway unites parks, historic sites, and activity centers for over eight enjoyable miles.
A favorite is the Minibeast Zooseum & Education Center. The distinctive learning center commits to "minibeasts", which include everything from worms to insects. Also featured is an interpretive center, a science store, and an outdoor classroom.
